Max-Joseph-Platz, Munich
Max-Joseph-Platz, laid out in 1802, is located at one end of the Maximilianstrasse and is bordered by the royal Residence, the Residence Theatre and the National Theatre, the Toerring-Jettenbach Palace and old town houses. In the middle of the square is a monument to King Maximilian I Joseph of Bavaria. An underground car park was built under the square in the 1960s.
