Hellabrunn Zoo

Hellabrunn Zoo is located in the heart of Munich, in an idyllic location on the banks of the Isar yet far away from the hustle and bustle of urban life. The 40-hectare nature paradise is in the conservation area of the Isar meadows. Asian elephants, kangaroos, chimpanzees, Seychelles giant tortoises, elk and lions – the zoo is home to more than 750 exotic and native animal species. One highlight of the zoo is the newly designed elephant house. Munich’s Hellabrunn Zoo was founded in 1911 and is one of the most renowned zoos for scientific research in Europe.
