Coburg-Brandensteinsebene Airfield, an authorised airfield, is situated above the Veste Coburg fortress, in the heart of a low mountain landscape, between Thuringia Forest, the Rhön and the Fichtel Mountains. It is presently owned by the town of Coburg. The airfield can be approached via a runway spanning over 632 metres in length with aeroplanes with a maximum take-off weight of up to 5.7 tonnes.
