Wilhelmine Copper Mine

Historic copper mine with an impressive gneiss rock face and approx. 500m of accessible underground tunnels in Vorspessart. Tunnel system from 1870 to 1922. Tunnel height between 1.60m and 2.20m, higher in places. Both above and below ground it is possible to see clear, colourful mineral formations (including azurite and malachite) as well as sinter formations on the tunnel walls, calcareous sinter stalactites and cave pearls. No tunnel subdivisions, as this is a stable mountain. The mine also has two large caverns, one of which is even used as a registry office. Located on the eastern edge of Sommerkahl.
