The Gunvor refinery was built in the 1960s and is still in operation. The large industrial plant has the typical facilities such as chimneys, pipes, oil tanks and much more. The refinery has two separate crude oil processing lines with atmospheric distillation and vacuum distillation as well as a catalytic cracking unit. Between 2000 and 2003, the refinery was retrofitted with a hydrogen generation system and additional desulphurization reactors. In the following years, further plant sections were continuously expanded and modernized, particularly with regard to environmental technology and logistics flexibility.
