Paper Mill Homburg

Paper mill, located on the edge of the wine village of Homburg, with a mighty, pagoda-like hipped roof. The paper produced in the mill was hung up to dry in its three large attics. From the beginning of the 19th century until 1975, the Homburg papermakers lived in the mill and used the power of the waterwheel to produce paper and cardboard. The complete technical equipment is still preserved. Workshop equipment and machines from the 18th, 19th and 20th centuries from pre-industrial and industrial times are integrated into the production process. On a tour through the authentically preserved production rooms, visitors can experience the manufacturing process and working life in the paper mill. In addition to the production facilities, living quarters of the papermaking family from the time of the mill's closure in 1975 are also on display. The commissioning of some machines and a demonstration workshop, in which the hand paper production with vat and scoop sieve is demonstrated, are also available. Keywords: paper, mill, pre-industrialization, water wheel, manual paper production, paper mill
