Maximilianeum, Munich
The Maximilianeum, which looks onto Munich’s Maximilianstrasse, was opened in 1874 to house a scholarship foundation. The building was restored following heavy damage in WW2 and since 1949 also functions as the seat of the Bavarian State Parliament. Since 2012 several extensions have been added. Surrounded by the road and tramlines, the building complex lies directly at the edge of the Maximilian Park on the River Isar; the interior is not open to the public.
