Lake Forggensee
Lake Forggensee to the north of Füssen is one of the best places for watersports and leisure activities in the Bavarian alpine uplands. What no-one notices when the water level is at its peak (01.06 – 15.10): The fifth-largest lake in Bavaria was created in the post-war era and was first dammed in 1954. The 12 km long and 3 km wide reservoir from the River Lech stands as a filming location for sailing, surfing and swimming – almost always with panoramic views of the regal castles of Neuschwanstein and Hohenschwangau, with a backdrop of the Ammergau, Lechtal and Tannheim Alps.
