Haag-Villa

The factory owner Johannes Haag commissioned the building of a two-storey, neo-Renaissance-style building on the grounds of his “machine and tube factory” in Bauhofstraße (now Johannes-Haag-Straße) in 1877. He created a prestigious director’s villa based on the Italian model in line with villa architecture from the Gründerzeit: The façade of the elaborately designed brick building with a T-shape layout is veneered with red and yellow Franconian sandstone – a style somewhat atypical for Augsburg. The location of the building in park grounds, considered modern at the time, with fountains, trees and gas-lit paths, highlights the exclusivity of the property to this day.
